Supported Devices:
Intel® Ethernet Connection I218 Family
Intel® Ethernet Connection I219 Family
Instructions:
a. Running Command Prompt (Admin) as Administrator.
b. Go to directory where you have ULP disable tool.
For example: C:\
c. ULPEnable must be run with one parameter as follows:
ULPEnable
is one of the following:
ENABLE - Enables the ULP (Ultra Low Power) feature of the I218 Network Connection
DISABLE - Disables the ULP (Ultra Low Power) feature of the I218 Network Connection
may optionally be preceded by a '-' or '/' character.
NOTES:
------
* ULPEnable must be run with administrator rights under operating systems
that require such rights to update the system registry.
* ULPEnable updates the system registry only for Intel(R) I218 Gigabit Network Connection
adapters. Other Intel network adapters are not affected by this applet.
* If the ULP Enable driver parameter (EnableI218ULPMode) is not already present in the
registry, it will be added.
* If there are no supported Intel adapters or all drivers are already
configured to use the setting, no changes are made to the registry.
* The new ULP Enable setting will not take effect until the adapter
driver is stopped and restarted. This may require the system to be rebooted
depending on the version of Windows.
* Running ULPEnable with no parameters will display a usage message box that
requires the user to press the OK button to exit the utility. No user input
is required if ULPEnable is run with one of the supported parameters.
d. You must disable then enable LAN device in device manager in order to apply the value to be valid.
e. How to check whether EnableI218ULPMode exists and ULP is disabled?
1.) Go to I218LM driver Properties in device manager →Details →Change to “Driver key” in Property →Record Value which is your device name in regedit.
Example: {4d36e972-e325-11ce-bfc1-08002be10318}\0000
2.) In Windows Search Box →Search “regedit”
3.) HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E972-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002bE10318}\DEVICE_NUMBER (where the DEVICE_NUMBER means the number assigned by Windows to Network Adapter and you will get it in Step 2)
4.) You will be able to see string key "I218DisableULP" which "set as 1 equal to ULP Disabled" and "set as 0 equal to ULP Enabled".
5.) When ULP is disabled and cable is disconnected, 0.9V LAN core power will be ON. When ULP is enabled and cable is disconnected, 0.9V LAN core power will be OFF.
Instructions for I219:
ULP is actually found in the device properties in the device manager. If you are using the latest driver, installed with DMIX, it will be under the Advanced tab or Power Management depending on OS.
